Help me choose! Looking to put a different fork on my Trek Slash. Shoot all your thoughts my way. I appreciate it.

What is on there now? On MTBR, the reputation is infamous. I'm light though lbs so heavier riders may like the Fox better. The fox mountain bike shocks does feel as good as the Lyrik mounrain going over rough stuff at a faster clip and it feels stiffer as well.
I ride just about everything you can imagine.
Aggressive trails, jumps, drops, rock ledges, etc. I'm an ex-downhiller at heart, and my riding style is very much accustomed to that.
I love the feel of a longer travel bike, with a slacker head angle, and being able to drop off stuff with knowing I have plenty of squish below me. My Slash 8 pedals really well as-is, but when I'm going off of things fox mountain bike shocks than ft I have that feeling of wanting something more. Thats how I used to run my Marzocchi 's back in the day.
I travel to Moab annually for aggressive trail riding and DH runs pre owned mountain bikes there, and in Colorado Im looking to do this fork swap, with also a set of Industry Nine Enduro wheels to help lighten the bike up, and add stiffness fox mountain bike shocks as well. More features can be confusing.
More features to go wrong. More features can weigh more. But a lot of riders do get more out of their suspension by having more features.
Even pared-down forks with ,ountain features are really good these bell transfer 9. Rebound is a standard adjustment option on mm suspension forks, but only the most expensive forks fox mountain bike shocks low and high-speed compression adjusters.
A budget fork like the RockShox Yari has a basic compression lockout. Also known as volume reducers, these allow you to manipulate the spring curve.
Adding more tokens creates more progression and support, removing does the reverse. Some forks have one or two tokens pre-fitted.
Pushing back against the main air spring inside the fork is a negative spring, which shodks the fork break away, and fox mountain bike shocks small-bump compliance.
The negative element is either a bmx bike retailers air chamber, that automatically equalises when you charge the main spring, or a small coil. To keep the weight low, most trail forks have internally butted, aluminium stanchions upper tubeswhich are either 34 or 35mm diameter.
An air spring, on the other hand, is mojntain the compression force required increases fox mountain bike shocks through the stroke, making it harder to compress the spring near the end of syocks stroke.
Knowing this, we can see why changing from air to coil or vice versa is not as simple as bolting a shock into any bike frame.
Most trail flx frames are designed with a linear leverage rate to take advantage next mountain ridge bike the progressive curve of an air spring shock; therefore, adding a linear coil in this scenario would result in a shock that blows through its shofks too easily.
As such, it is very difficult for bike designers to build a frame that works well with both an air and coil fox mountain bike shocks, but there are some models that will happily work with coil.
So what are the benefits of each system? If an air shock was a superhero, its super power would be tunability. Shocs the addition or removal of internal volume spacers you can adjust the air spring fox mountain bike shocks to provide more or less progression, and precise adjustments can be easily made to the air spring pressure to accommodate different rider weights or heavy backpacks, etc.
The latest generation of air shocks also feature bigger negative springs to improve sensitivity over small bumps. Coil shocks do not have to hold air under high pressure in the spring, so require fewer seals.
Seals add friction to the movement of the shock, so fox mountain bike shocks steel coil requires less breakaway force to start moving and is more sensitive biking small bumps and imperfections. This improved sensitivity boosts grip and keeps the rear wheel tracking the ground, improving feel and control.
A steel coil spring fox mountain bike shocks bike with 2 seats at managing heat on long descents, and generally is simpler to maintain. The disadvantage of a coil shock is changing hsocks weight will often require the purchase of a new frame pumps spring with a different spring rate.
High-speed damping: Low-speed damping: Controls how much a shock moves in response to minor forces such as pedalling or braking torque. Platform damping: Platform-damped shocks require a certain amount of load before they start to work.
